Leaving reviews for holiday accommodation

Once you have stayed in accommodation you should, where possible leave reviews. Reviews are very important for people to be able to make a judgement on whether or not they wish to stay in said accommodation and can be important feedback for the accommodation owners.

When writing a review there are often a number of places you can post it. It may be that you leave a review with the accommodation provider either on their website, in person or in a review book or you can often post reviews on third party websites such as Trip Advisor.

You should always be honest and fair in your review and try to leave details of positive or negative feedback. It is equally important to leave feedback for good or bad stays to give a true reflection of the accommodation. If you encountered an issue when staying somewhere, report it first to the owners and allow them time to rectify the issue. If it was dealt with quickly and resolved then be sure to mention this in your review.

Trip to Amsterdam

Though Amsterdam has a bit of a reputation as the number one stag-do destination, with its “coffee” shops and seedy red light district, there is much more to the city than you might think. Known as the “Venice of the north”, being built on a maze of canals, this picturesque city is packed with world class museums, a buzzing nightlife and great architecture.

The airport is a short train ride from the city, and once there the best way to get around is by bicycle. Cycling is the most popular form of transport around the city and you will find the road system much more accommodating t cyclists than some other cities. Bicycles can be hired for a small sum, or you can make use of the excellent tram system.

The city houses some excellent art galleries and museums, with the Van Gough museum being a particular highlight. The night life is great and with plenty to do, Amsterdam is a great destination for a short break or a longer stay.

Is a cruise holiday right for me?

Cruise holidays are not for everyone, but if you have not been on one and assume that you wouldn’t enjoy it you may be very surprised. I have often heard people say that they don’t think they would enjoy one but have later tried it and now that is all they do.

Holiday makers who haven’t yet tried a cruise tell us that popular cruising myths like “I’ll get seasick” and “I’ll feel claustrophobic on the boat” are among the top reasons to why they have not been tempted to book cruise holiday.

Cruise holidays are often advertised on the TV and let’s face it, they often look far from boring. With pools, slides and entertainment there is something for everyone. Often on a cruise you will port and get the opportunity to get off the ship and explore the local area. This is a great way to see lots of new places and be able to enjoy time to relax on the boat too.

Travel safety advice

When traveling abroad you should always consider safety. Unfortunately there are many countries where it can be risky to travel alone and you need to be constantly on your guard when moving from one location to the next.

If you need a taxi from the airport to your accommodation, it is advised to book it in advance with a reputable, well known company. Many taxi firms will even let you know who your driver will be and what car they will pick you up in prior to travelling to insure you get picked up by the correct person.

If you can travel in pairs or groups then even better, safety in numbers, as they say. If you must travel alone may for business or you are meeting friends or family out there, then plan all of your journeys in advance and make sure that someone is aware of your travel plans at all times.

All inclusive holidays

When booking a holiday you may have several options available to you at your chosen resort. This may include self-catering, half board or all inclusive. Self-catering is when you do not have any meals or drinks included so you are paying just for the accommodation and possibly the onsite facilities. Half board usually includes breakfast and evening meal and ll inclusive holiday packages usually include breakfast, lunch, evening meal and drinks.

If you want to book a holiday where you do not have to worry about finding places to eat and drink and do not have to take much spending money with you, then all inclusive holidays are the way for you. There are some downsides to going all inclusive, such as you will have paid for your meals and drinks within the holiday price so therefore you are restricted to eating and drinking in the resort otherwise you will have to pay extra to venture further afield. Some people do not like the idea of eating at the same place every day.
